Formulated as a wettable powder, this biofungicide contains two different microorganisms—Trichoderma asperellum and Trichoderma gamsii—making it suitable for use in both sustainable crop protection programs and organic farming. Key advantages of “Remedier” include its excellent toxicological, environmental, and residue profiles, as well as a short pre-harvest interval of just three days across all crops.

“Remedier” acts against pathogens primarily through antagonism: it competes with them for space and nutrients while also enzymatically attacking their cell walls.

Consequently, it is intended solely for preventive use. In terms of its spectrum of activity, “Remedier” is effective against a wide range of pathogens, such as those affecting the root systems and crowns of vegetable crops, as well as key threats to fruit crops like Stemphylium vesicarium on pears or branch cankers on stone fruit trees.

One of the most valuable uses of Gowan Remedier is on grapevines, a crop that requires protection against a variety of distinct fungal diseases. For instance, its application inhibits the entry of the pathogens responsible for Esca disease, which penetrate the vine shoots through pruning cuts or other mechanical wounds. Subsequently, from the flowering stage through to the pre-harvest period, Remedier is used to combat grey mold (Botrytis cinerea).

These applications also provide protection against sour rot—a condition affecting the berries caused by the proliferation of microorganisms such as Candida, Kloeckera, Saccharomycopsis, and Acetobacter. Sour rot is the final type of damage to affect the grape clusters, appearing after the damage caused by Botrytis and grape moths.

At harvest, affected parts of the clusters must be carefully removed—increasing labor costs—because this type of rot, combined with Botrytis infection, imparts odors and flavors to the wine that result in the total loss of the vintage.

To prevent these diseases, “Remedier” is applied to grapevines at a rate of one kilogram per hectare—up to four times per season at 10-to-15-day intervals—ensuring even coverage of the canopy area where the grape clusters are located. Efficient training systems and spring leaf removal facilitate this process, as these practices allow plant protection treatments to achieve maximum efficacy. Finally, the “Remedier” label is constantly expanding, with new approved uses now covering kiwifruit, hazelnuts, and artichokes.

Under Article 53 of Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009, “Remedier” has been granted an emergency authorization from March 30 to July 27, 2026, for use against Fusarium diseases in soft and durum wheat. Three applications per crop cycle are permitted, at rates ranging from one to two kilograms per hectare. The higher rate should be used when conditions are particularly favorable for disease development, especially with susceptible varieties.
