The performance of Claas Scorpion telehandlers from the so-called “Small Series” is improving. This range includes telehandlers with nominal reaches between six and ten meters and load capacities ranging from 3,300 to 4,200 kilograms. The “Scorpion 756” and “Scorpion 960” models, part of the “Large Series,” will also be available in a “Night Edition” configuration

The current Claas “Scorpion” telehandlers trace their origins back to 1993, when the company introduced the “Ranger” models, followed in 1998 by the “Targo” range and, in 2005, by the first generation of “Scorpion” machines. In 2018, the second generation was launched, and at the end of March, this lineup was reintroduced to the market with enhanced performance and numerous technical and aesthetic updates.
A key contributor to this evolution is the Liebherr Group, which has been collaborating with Claas since 2017 by supplying both the aforementioned “Scorpion” telehandlers and the “Torion” telescopic wheel loaders.

These machines are manufactured in a new facility located in Telfs, Tyrol. The site spans 18 hectares and required an investment of €9.4 million just to set up the telehandler production lines. Part of this investment went toward ensuring that end users receive products with superior reliability, comfort, and functionality standards.
This is confirmed by the improved performance of the “Small Series” telehandlers, which previously had load capacities ranging from 3,200 to 4,100 kilograms and working heights between six and ten meters. While the reaches remain unchanged, load capacities have increased by between 100 and 300 kilograms depending on the model, prompting updates to the model names.
Scorpion model year 2025
For instance, the “Scorpion 635” has become the “Scorpion 638”, and models “732”, “736”, and “741” have evolved into “733”, “738”, and “742”, respectively. It is worth noting that the first digit of the model name indicates the reach in meters, while the last two digits refer to the load capacity in quintals (hundreds of kilograms). The “Scorpion 1033” has also been updated, although with unchanged performance, just like the three “Large Series” models: “Scorpion 746”, “Scorpion 756”, and “Scorpion 960”.
In total, the Claas telehandler range now includes eight models with load capacities from 3,300 to 6,000 kilograms and lifting heights between six and ten meters. These machines are available with engine power ratings of 143 or 156 horsepower and are all equipped with the Claas hydrostatic transmission system “VariPower.”
This system is configurable in its base version as well as in the “VariPower 2/3” and “VariPower Plus” versions, which feature additional hydraulic motors to boost pushing or towing performance. A common feature of all versions is the constant transmission ratio from a standstill up to 40 km/h and the integration of intelligent driver assistance systems designed to improve handling and management.
Also available in “Night Edition”

After launching “Night Edition” special series for certain models of the “Arion 500”, “Arion 600”, “Axion 800”, and “Axion 900” tractors, Claas has decided to apply the same aesthetic solutions to its “Scorpion” telehandlers—specifically, the “733”, “742”, “756”, and “960” models. Two of these, the “756” and “960”, will be available in limited series in Italy.
They stand out from standard models thanks to their grey roofs and wheels, as well as large-format premium decals with the “Night Edition” logo on the door and hood. From a technical and performance standpoint, there are no differences compared to the standard models, but the new “Night Edition” telehandlers certainly offer greater professional appeal.
