Dai campi al deserto nel rally africano

A Massey Ferguson “Mf 8S Dyna E-Power” suitably modified took part in the African rally “Morocco Desert Challenge” last April, completing the entire route of three thousand and 150 kilometers and ranking fourth out of eight competitors in the truck category. It is the first agricultural tractor to complete a race characterized by the absence of transfers between one special stage and another.

African rally, tractor on trial

Each daily route was in fact a single special stage, which did not give a moment’s respite to machines, drivers and co-crew, the latter being mandatory on board except for motorcycles and quads. Two racing seats with relative safety restraints were therefore installed on the tractor, a modification which was combined with the presence of an integral safety cage and a boosted air conditioning system. The transmission was modified to allow speeds of around 75 kilometers/hour, the front axle was specific and so was the layout of the engine ventilation and breathing system. All changes imposed by the race regulations which however did not overturn the technical setup of the tractor.
