New Honda robotic lawnmowers available 24/7

Honda has unveiled two wireless robotic lawnmowers, the “Miimo 1500i” and “Miimo 2200i,” that significantly raise the bar in the industry.

They operate using satellite geolocation, eliminating the need to physically limit their working areas.

On the surface, they resemble two robotic lawnmowers. Aesthetically pleasing, quiet to use, and automated in action, they represent a leap into the future, something only a company like Honda can offer.

The new “Miimo 1500i” and “Miimo 2200i” are a powerhouse of technology designed to literally make you forget they’re there once you’ve positioned them in your garden.

The body and mechanics were designed with the idea that the two machines will work 365 days a year, and therefore feature materials and construction solutions that make them resistant to environmental and physical damage caused by variations in temperature and climate, as well as ultraviolet rays.

It’s no coincidence that both “Miimo” robots are IPx5-certified waterproof, meaning they can work even on wet grass and can be cleaned with water jets without the need for disassembly. Furthermore, the front wheels have been designed to handle even wet or uneven surfaces with minimal mud accumulation. Added to these advantages are a satellite geolocation system and network connection that allow the two robots to move within the work area without requiring any control and, novelty, without the work area having to be identified by physical boundaries.

The classic buried wire, so to speak. Simply walk along the garden boundaries holding a smartphone for a specific system app to recognize the garden’s boundaries and transmit the relevant data to the robots. These data are then processed, resulting in a standard working precision of a few centimeters, a performance induced by an RTK correction entirely similar to that used in agriculture to handle precision farming tasks.

The two robots also recharge themselves when they sense low battery, and if necessary, they can be summoned by voice via smartphone, even remotely. Featuring a cutting width of 18 centimeters, an adjustable height from 20 to 50 millimeters, and the ability to climb slopes of 25 percent, they differ in their application options—the “Miimo 1500i” can work gardens of up to 1,500 square meters and the “Miimo 2200i” up to 2,200 square meters—and in their safety features.

Both have two 360-degree impact sensors to detect the presence of obstacles, but the “Miimo 2200i” also integrates an ultrasonic system that “sees” obstacles from a distance, recognizes them, and reduces speed before reaching them. Both models will be available starting next spring with a five-year warranty.
