Colors aside, those who have no experience with mechanical workshops may think that all greases are the same. In reality, each product has very specific characteristics and is oriented towards equally specific applications. An example of this are Pakelo Ptfe Free greases
Greases are strategic products for the proper functioning of an agricultural machine, but unlike lubricating oils, their use does not always enjoy great attention from the users of the same machines. Many of them actually think that one product is as good as another and the price is the only discriminant to take into consideration when making a purchase.
Nothing could be more wrong. Greases, like oils, are products made by appropriately mixing different bases with equally different additives, processes that give rise to compounds characterized by performances that orient them to specific applications. An example of this is the “Ptfe Free” greases developed by Pakelo to comply with European Regulation 2033/2023 which has greatly reduced the possibilities of using the so-called “microplastics”, those synthetic, solid and organic polymers smaller than five millimeters that are insoluble in water and resistant to degradation.
The qualities of Pakelo Ptfe Free greases
Among the banned compounds is also polytetrafluoroethylene, a polymer commercially known as “Teflon” and widely used in the solid lubrication sector as an anti-friction additive. Since they could no longer use Teflon, Pakelo technicians have worked to find alternatives to this additive that would allow them to comply with European inputs without degrading the performance of their greases and, perhaps, even increasing them.
The research has led to the creation of a new product line presented at Bauma 2025, currently consisting of three solid lubricants free from microplastics and “Teflon” compounds called: “Bearing Ep Lc23 Ker Nlgi 2/3”, “Whiker Ep Grease Nlgi 2” and “Multiplex Ep Grease Ker Nlgi 2”, with the first consisting of a grease thickened with complex lithium soaps and with a high percentage of solid ceramic additives. “Whiker Ep Grease Nlgi 2” are instead greases with a synthetic base of ivory white color thickened with lithium soaps and with solid additives of titanium dioxide and ceramic, while “Multiplex Ep Grease Ker Nlgi 2” is a multifunctional product thickened with calcium sulfonate soaps and added with anti-friction solutions.
All the new products boast high adhesiveness, water repellency and antioxidant qualities that allow to delay the greasing intervals compared to traditional products, but each of them is oriented to very specific applications that are summarized in the boxes and in the table present in these same pages.
