Horsch Leeb Lt series sprayers: four models for every need

German manufacturer Horsch offers four models in the high-capacity trailed sprayer segment with its Horsch Leeb Lt series.

These machines feature tank capacities ranging from 4,000 to 9,000 liters and boom widths from 18 to 45 meters

Spring is the season for crop protection treatments, whether with herbicides or fungicides. Many crops require protection, starting with maize, which must be safeguarded through appropriate post-emergence weed control, and extending to soybean, rice, sugar beet, and sunflower. Low-growing crops such as potatoes and processing tomatoes require specialized crop protection products, as weeds and late blight must be controlled through effective and rational plant protection programs.

Whatever challenge must be addressed and whichever crop protection product is used, applications must be precise, efficient, and fast in order to minimize labor costs. This creates the need for highly efficient sprayers such as those offered by Horsch in the “Leeb LT” range, trailed machines distinguished by their versatility and operational performance.

The German manufacturer offers four models, with capacities ranging from the 4,000-liter entry-level “Leeb 4 LT” to the flagship “Leeb 9 LT” with a 9,000-liter tank. As indicated by the model designation, the tank volume is expressed in cubic meters—four, five, six, and nine respectively. In addition to these capacities, each machine includes a 500-liter clean-water tank and a 15-liter hand-washing tank.

This results in a considerable overall weight, which Horsch has managed intelligently by designing a tank that is wider at the bottom and tapered toward the top. This configuration keeps the center of gravity close to the ground even when the tank is full, while still providing a ground clearance of 85 centimeters.

The generous clearance does not exceed the dimensional limits established for road transport, making road travel quick and convenient. All four models remain within the standard transport envelope of four meters in height and three meters in width. Maximum height reaches 3.60 meters, while widths vary depending on the model. The first three models remain within the conventional 2.55-meter width, while the flagship version complies with the legal maximum of 3.00 meters.

A wide range of boom options is available to suit different operational requirements. The “Leeb LT” series can be equipped with booms ranging from 18 meters, the minimum width, up to 45 meters, the maximum available.

Regardless of the model selected, all booms feature the Horsch “BoomControl” active boom guidance system. Developed to maximize boom stability during spraying operations, it maintains the preset distance from the ground as consistently as possible. This distance can be adjusted from a minimum of 30 centimeters up to a maximum of 250 centimeters, allowing operators to optimize spraying height according to the specific application profile.

Application precision and drift reduction are further enhanced by the 25-centimeter nozzle spacing. This configuration ensures optimal overlap of the spray patterns according to the selected working height.

The spray mixture is delivered through a PTO-driven piston-diaphragm pump, with flow rates varying according to the chosen specification package.

In the “Basic” configuration, which combines efficiency with a more accessible investment level, the “Leeb LT” models operate with a pump capable of delivering up to 400 liters per minute. The system is managed through load-sensing connections, while the suction and pressure circuits are controlled by manual multi-way valves.

Flow rates increase significantly in higher-specification versions equipped with more powerful pumps, making them particularly suitable for large farms and professional contractors. In these models, pump output reaches 600 liters per minute on the “Leeb 4 LT,” “Leeb 5 LT,” and “Leeb 6 LT,” while the flagship “Leeb 9 LT” achieves up to 1,000 liters per minute.

On every model, spraying pressure is continuously monitored and regulated through a pressure sensor and its associated control unit.
