Fertilizing tall crops requires the highest distribution precision, placing every microgranule exactly where it belongs. The “Meglio” spreaders from Rinieri, pneumatic and of new design, are conceived precisely for this mission profil

To generate profit, it is necessary not only to achieve good selling prices, but also to minimize production costs. Farmers can do little to influence the former, since they are notoriously subject to the dictates of large-scale distribution, but on the latter they have greater room for maneuver by choosing the most suitable working equipment. Fertilization costs are a clear example, influenced by the volatility of fertilizer prices and by investments in purchasing equipment, as well as fuel consumption and labor time. It is therefore essential to opt for machines with a high benefit/cost ratio, capable of maximizing returns from every gram of fertilizer applied and every liter of diesel consumed.
Rinieri Meglio fertilizer spreader is a great help
With this in mind, Rinieri—an Emilia-Romagna brand specialized in equipment for tall crops—has recently introduced a rear-mounted pneumatic precision spreader designed to carry out under-row fertilization more accurately and efficiently than other solutions on the market. Called “Meglio”, this new system for localized distribution of granular fertilizers stands out for its ability to concentrate nutrients in a very narrow strip of soil, precisely at the base of the plants.

Compact and lightweight, the “Meglio” models are only 120 centimeters wide, making them suitable even for plantations with particularly narrow row spacing. Provided the operator has the necessary skill, they can work at speeds ranging from 3 to 10 km/h depending on field conditions. Weighing just 325 kilograms, the “Meglio” units also minimize soil compaction, thus preserving soil structure and permeability, while being operable with relatively low power tractors (40 to 60 horsepower), further reducing diesel consumption costs.ù
Despite being lightweight, the robust 600-kilogram steel hopper—equal to the volume of a big bag of fertilizer—ensures high capacity, while up to eight different distribution settings can be stored in the onboard control unit. Precise distribution of granular fertilizers is achieved by combining electric motors with a feed auger, which supplies steel conduits for ground deposition.
A fan regulates the spread pattern, ensuring drop widths of just 60–70 centimeters—or even 40–45 centimeters with dedicated directional extensions. This allows the equipment to be used both in narrow rows and in wider spacings of up to 4.5 meters.
Notably, the “Meglio” spreaders are also equipped with a GPS geolocation system that continuously adjusts fertilizer output, interacting with the distribution components to increase or decrease the dose in line with the machine’s forward speed.
