Claas CMatic Axion 8: comfort, power and automation at the highest levels

Claas has expanded the current Axion 800 CMatic range with three new tractors belonging to the Axion 8 CMatic family. Featuring the latest-generation technical solutions, these models stand out for onboard comfort, thanks to cabs so well insulated that the engine is virtually imperceptible when operating below 1,000 rpm.

Harsewinkel, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. On July 7, Claas presented the new high-power Axion 8 CMatic tractors to the press and, after explaining their technical features, invited journalists to test them in the field. The first surprise came immediately: after adjusting the driving position, everyone tried to start the engine only to discover that it was already running at idle. Inside the cab, no noise or vibration could be perceived, confirming an outstanding level of sound insulation. During field work, noise levels are reduced to just 67 decibels. The second surprise concerns the machine’s response once the reverser is activated. By pressing a specific button, the tractor begins moving autonomously, even performing the maneuvers required to reach its working area. Were it not for safety reasons, the operator could theoretically step out and leave the tractor and implement working independently under the supervision of the VCU (Vehicle Control Unit) system.

Claas CMatic Axion 8: three models up to 313 hp

The new Axion 8 CMatic family currently consists of three models: 8.240, 8.270 and 8.290. Powered by FPT Nef 6.7 six-cylinder engines, they deliver maximum outputs of 264, 291 and 313 hp respectively under demanding operating conditions.

Efficient engines and extended maintenance intervals

Efficient engines and extended maintenance intervals

The engines are equipped as standard with reversible fans to clean radiators and ventilation grilles without interrupting work. They are also approved for operation with HVO fuel and feature maintenance intervals extended from 600 to 750 hours.

Auto Load Anticipation: intelligent power management

One of the most noteworthy technologies is Auto Load Anticipation, which continuously and proactively optimizes engine speed and transmission ratio. The self-learning algorithm anticipates load peaks and adjusts the entire powertrain accordingly, reducing fuel consumption while maintaining dynamic performance.

Cemos Dialog, tire pressure control and safety

The Cemos Dialog system acts as an operational advisor, providing real-time suggestions to improve efficiency. CTIC and CTIC 2800 tire pressure control systems are also available to optimize traction and reduce tire wear. An automatic trailer brake enhances safety during road transport.

Hydraulic system and lifting capacity

Standard hydraulic flow is 150 l/min, with an optional upgrade to 205 l/min. Rear lifting capacity reaches 9.7 or 10.2 tonnes depending on the model, while front lifting capacity reaches 5.9 tonnes.

Cab comfort and visibility

The cab offers approximately three cubic meters of interior space and uses a four-post design with a mechanical suspension system. In the Premium version, the seat includes ventilation, heating and massage functions. High-resolution digital cameras, LED work lights producing up to 56,000 lumens, a 280-degree windshield wiper sweep, and advanced steering and joystick controls further enhance operator comfort and productivity.
