John Elkann also sold Vm Motori

After selling the Iveco Group to India’s Tata, John Elkann has also sold Vm Motori, a historic company based in Cento, near Ferrara, to a third party

In this specific case, however, the buyer is not Asian but Italian: the Turin-based Marval Group, a multinational backed by the Azzurra Capital fund that operates in the sectors of engine and transmission components for agricultural and construction machinery, commercial vehicles, trucks, and sports cars.

With a 2024 turnover of €160 million and several plants in Italy, the United Kingdom, and China employing 800 people, Marval counts among its customers the most highly regarded brands operating in the aforementioned sectors. The hope is that Marval will restore VM Motori to its past glories, when it produced the 320-horsepower six-cylinder turbodiesel engine that went on to power Maseratis.
